A Pawn in Play

Updated: Jul 4, 2025

By Isha Dilshad

In shadows cast where trust once bloomed,

I wandered lost, in silence doomed.

With open heart, I gave my all,

But found myself against the wall.

Like whispers soft, they came to me,

With sweetened words, they’d feign to be.

Yet in their eyes, I saw the truth,

A fleeting spark of stolen youth.

I stood alone, a pawn in play,

Used and tossed, like yesterday.

No friend was real, just masks they wore,

Each promise broken, my spirit sore.

Innocence, a heavy chain,

Bound by the weight of silent pain.

Yet through the tears, I’ll find my way,

To rise anew, embrace the day.

For though I’ve stumbled, lost in strife,

I’ll gather strength, reclaim my life.

No longer will I be their game,

I’ll forge my path, ignite my flame.
