A Night Scene

The naked sky opens to a navy sea,

like a theatrical performance by the stars,

formless in shape, glistening, jocund, and free.

On the bare chest of the universe,

they twinkle in action, as if the heart—

the million hearts of the celestial chart—

pumping life to all that sees

and hears its many possibilities.

Then the covert crickets orchestrate

their song of life in a palpitating rhythm

of the core, and the pulse of knowledge

perpetually drifts out its open seam.

While poetry births through this landscape,

conflating with my quill to boundless shapes

and conscience that traverses upward

to the glimmering canvas, fusing skyward.
