A Mother’s Birth

By Debi Mukherjee

I often wonder,

How is a mother born ?

A baby is born from the mother, but

can we venture that a mother is in turn born from her child? A child who slowly and steadily reaches out to an inexperienced human and guides her, only with love. A person who takes on that role is the mother.

Is there a language more powerful than the one a child employs? An onlooker might say, where are their words!

We have a propensity to forget this language, and we may use it sparingly - but it is Love

And so a mother is born.

Not by society, or by labor alone, but by her child.
