A Mirage Of Me

Greedy lies and fake smiles

Something this world runs by

As you step in the ashes of what's left behind

You'll find

Implausible as it seems

The truth doesn't always reveal

For every chef d'ouvre

Has drafts and discards behind

And drawstrings tightening at waists

Where seams should align

For the cracked glass seems perfectly fine

Till it leaks of wine

Somewhat like you and I

Trying to fit somewhere into this circus of life

Absolute perfection may never be achieved

But the look of it, sold as is perceived

The untold tales, tied by strings of fate

The porcelain on my face cracks

As i put on another layer of paint

Painting a crowning smile

Hiding the patches beneath my eyes

For promised kinship on this lonely isle

When the curtains raise

A mirage of me prevails

For this seeming beauty

Covers up for layers of deceit in her longing gaze

Masquerading as what you ask of me

As even my reflection continues to deceive

Enchanted by this lovely flock of lies

What were to happen if put to trial?

But who am I to decide?

For I am nothing, but the cracked glass that seems perfectly fine

Till it leaks of wine
