A Lifetime Apart
By Aaradhya Sinha
Was it my fault? I still don’t know.
But I can’t forget the bond we had,
The memories we built, the secrets we kept,
The way we talked like nothing else mattered.
Every poem I write is still about you.
I tell the world I won’t go back,
But deep down, my thoughts fight my gut.
I don’t know where I stand anymore.
A single moment separates us now,
Like December and January, so close but worlds apart.
Maybe we were never meant to last.
Maybe the truth is we were just passing through each other’s lives.
The people who once admired what we had
Now tell us to stay away.
It’s not their fault. It’s not ours either.
It’s the fault of a cruel twist of time
That tore us apart, that made us strangers.
I still remember that night, the last texts, the last fight.
And then nothing. Just silence.
We disappeared like we never existed,
Like the sun vanishes for the moon to shine.
But even the moon needs the sun to glow.
