A Holiday

By Jignasa Parikh

He asked her casually, as a matter of fact

If she remembered that holiday and something about that

He asked her if she remembered the colour of the sky

And the night when she could not stop to cry

Do you remember that garden we chanced upon and laid back the whole afternoon?

And that cathedral and its windows that you thought we left so soon

He said he missed the place and longed to go back

And grew silent reminiscing the holiday like a memory in haystack

She turned to him with a smile

She did remember the holiday from awhile

She remembered the colour of the sky matched his skin after a dive

She remembered the night she cried of gratitude to have him in her life

She remembered the flowers on his shirt on the laidback day in the garden

And that silent prayer she made for him in the cathedral to the guardian

She said she missed the place too

The place where I was in love with you.
