A Graveyard Full of Life

My past is haunting me,

In the graveyard of my mistakes,

I lay down in the ground,

Looking for stars in a cloudy sky,

Always reaching for the impossible.

The decaying corpse who once was my muse,

I swore not to write about him.

But I can’t escape him,

Or this place.

This misty place smells like ash,

I'm now all alone walking around,

I gaze upon all the people buried here,

Is it comfy there?

I'm getting sucked further in as we speak.

His tomb near me,

The roses are still fresh, somehow.

Bright red roses.

That's what he liked.

Crows cawing in the distance,

It's getting harder to see.

I guess I strayed too far,

I saw a hole being dug up freshly.

I want to return,

But I can't see anything anymore,

The fog is getting thicker,

My eyes are burning.

The place which once was my escapism,

Was not this.

Where am I?

I walk, walk, walk,

My legs are giving out,

I trip on a twig and fall head first,

I can't stand up,

I saw a carved stone with my name on it,

And before I knew it,

It was my grave.
