A Game of Shadows

In the world of a checked pattern,

the king is gold and the queen is silken grace

with the fate of all, at his leisure

all must abide by their shoelace

in the place where darkness and corruption embrace

and the light of truth and virtue meet their grave

the humble pawn rises in rebellion

against the mighty king’s pavilion

fighting with the gore and dark

just for the light to shine upon all

the rocks and knights, it must defeat

to make two steps forward,

strategizing his left and right.

The ponds found themselves in a bunch

and rose in rebellion against the crown

The strategies made and the hours paid

hey and light returned with the words checkmate
