A Flower Born of Desire
By Anisha Bhattacharya
In the garden of the dark
Beneath the blackened skies
There rose a quiet marvel-
A flower born of desire.
Its petals held the light within
The roots that screamed pain
Yet bold it stood, defiant-
Just yet to reach heaven.
Where dreams were buried
Within the lands of dust and sorrow.
A hope was sown that outlived.
The meadow where shadows tire.
When the ashes of obedience
Became its soil, not peace
But it was just right to scream.
Freedom with torn dreams.
No gentle hands had fed it,
Only sparks of freedom
Helped it break the cage
Of its ache that never sleeps.
At last, it attained its freedom.
The final bloom of broken roots
Sometimes it takes it all.
To turn chains into songs to ever blossom.
