A Day In The Skies
By Archismita Das
Welcome to a day in the life,
Or let’s say – a day in the skies,
My name is Sally, and I’m a cloud;
You hear thunder when I loudly shout.
I start off the day,
Being golden and grey.
Sunlight seeps through,
And you’ll notice me - I pray.
So early in the morning,
Yet still I see
Dozens of birds,
And one looks at me.
It’s a baby – oh, so small,
It glances with wonder around all.
It tries to reach me in the skies
But alas! It can’t fly so high.
I pass over many houses,
But two of them stood out to me –
One house terrified of the rain,
While the other smiles happily.
Before my eyes,
Time flies by –
So much fun,
But now I’m done.
The sky looks such a deep black.
Why is she oh so sad?
Is it because she’s hurt and alone?
Is she looking for somewhere to call home?
