A Cynic

I am a cynic.

And those I know,

have convinced me so.

I can tell by the way

they all function

but most of all,

I can tell by the way

my mind speaks.

Call me indistinguishable

but my mind tells me I know better.

While you would wish for

what they have,

and you don’t;

I wouldn’t.

Because my mind tells me I know better.

I am a soothsayer.

My experiences and perspicacity have shaped me into one

thus, my mind tells me I don’t need another.

Apparently I am enough by myself.

Well then, it must be favourable that:

No one close to me

is actually close.

No one I call mine

is actually mine.

Because how could

another be true to me

if I am not true to myself?
