A Crawl- My Life

By Sahil Baxi

In a shell, I find myself

Shell shocked, am I?

Where, once I thought, I grew,

Like a butterfly from a cocoon

Riding through life, like a crawl

Of a bird without its wings.

I believe, still,

In the merry world, I had imagined

Shall it come, someday,

Among this gloomy despair

Broken, it should not be,

But is that what I deserve?

Chanced upon a fate,

Better than most.

Yet find myself lost,

In a road not chosen yet taken.

In the darkroom, that is life

I find myself

Seeking answers and direction

From the darkness within

One seat, one table,

One life, one road,

It all constrains me,

In a tight knot

Am I an animal belonging to the jungle,

Wild and free

Or am I an animal belonging to the jungle,

Of concrete

Unknown, I tread, a path

That exposes as I walk

The long mile and more.

Free, at last, I still am not.
