A Box

Old Box

Door gave up and hung on hinge

Clothes spilled along with a few things

Every item lay bare

To the eyes which once cared

Carefully sorting the stuff

Chore extracted a huff

Folding the spilled clothes

The messy chaos inside howled

Amidst the clutter

A box was hidden

Upon it’s tumble

The heart stuttered

All tangle long forgotten

The box waited to be opened

Memories came forth unbidden

Emotions unfurled

Old notebooks, batches of moments

Scrawled names and wrappers of chocolates

Every item reminced the day

Bringing back a love in bittersweet way

The shy smile warmed the frozen place

Tugged at the feelings strange

Each connected with secluded string

Heart dancing to it’s mystical theme

A safe haven cocooned

Encouraging the heart to indulge

Peace settled

Soul sighed

Time flew and reverie broke

Outside world

Shoving through the delicate blinder

Items weighed a ton

Box too heavy to turn

All back in place

It went far away from the rueful gaze

Hidden in deepest of the space

There was a room to take a breath

And tangle glaring a wrath

Another day, another wreck.
