A Backyard Death Scene

I think this would be a fitting way for me to die

The world preparing to implode,

Collapsing in every direction,

Yet somehow falling inward all the same

And I am laying on a trampoline.

I wear converse like every sci-fi protagonist

Power lines run through my backyard,

Cutting and layering a crescent moon shining through the clouds

Invasive palm trees dot across the mountain sunset

But there will be no little green alien man coming to save the day

This is always how I knew I’d go,

Slightly sad and alone

There is nothing dishonorable in allowing a prophecy to come to fruition

Let me live in a foreseen future and present,

Wither away and cease to exist.
