TOMB

By M V S Bharadwaj

She saw the light coming from the dark,

She saw the specks and thought they might be

stars.

She couldn't sense it, but something was around

her.

After rigorous thought, she named it "air"

She swallowed the air at times of despair.

She felt all alone, even though she could hear

beyond her and more.

She had dreams that were pure pain, in a life that

seemed insane.

Something stopped her every time she moved in

vain.

She felt,

She slept,

She wept,

She dealt,

And made up her mind: life is a tomb,

Until she finally emerged from the womb.
