Rain

By Ashok Mitra

The sky is overcast with dense clouds

with the inclement rainy weather,

My teenage mind quests for you

than being indifferent rather.

The drizzling rain then gets started

Roads now have no dust residue,

But my vision becomes blurred

in these moments without you.

I want your comforting touch

Feeling together while it’s raining,

Hugging you merrily with delight

In the radiance of the lightning.

Will the pouring rain all around

assuage our upsetting sulkiness?

Let our intense romance rekindle

the script of love and closeness.

Come into my arms, let’s get drenched,

Kiss passionately to bury our pain,

The monsoon rains will witness our love

While the fountains start singing again.
