Once

By C.R. Doolan

There once was a girl,

Who lived in pain,

Her dreams wanted sunshine,

But her reality was rain.

And she was very beautiful,

With soft brown hair,

But she was never told that,

So she thought no one cared.

But they all thought that she was,

Hell, they all thought that she knew!

But she didn’t think,

That could possibly be true.

And she always felt alone,

So over time,

Those beautiful brown eyes of hers,

Lost their shine.

Her smile started fading,

Her shirt sleeves grew long,

Because she thought she was the reason,

Why everything went wrong.

And they all wanted to know the reason,

Why she was so shy,

“Have you ever told her she’s beautiful?”

“No.” “That’s why.”
