A string holds the light above the blue and it lowers it slowly

Dropping ever so close to the edge of the shining waters

Birds fly over its smile and it frowns, lonely,

Gazing, glistening, its sons and daughters

Beckoning across the midnight line.

It sighs, glances back and blinks.

And a whole world’s gone black.
