Holi

Happy we are as the 'festival of colours', 'festival of love' and the 'festival of spring', HOLI is round the clock.

All set and decked up we be to share the coloured powders with each other during noisy street celebrations marking the onset of spring. Bringing back enthusiasm in life and making life a reason to enjoy, festivals always assure their presence.

But are festivals being a reason not to be cherished for someone?

Yes they are. Obviously we haven't ever seen any animal celebrating festival but we have made them part of many to make our festivals successful. For example cattle fairs, camel fairs, elephant festivals, etc.

When they make our festivals a success then we should also make sure that during our celebrations we don't counter their happiness.

Here, sharing a short poem depicting STRAY ANIMAL'S grief in the colorful air:

हमेशा से एक नारा तो सुना ही है आज एक और को सक्षम करते हैं :

बुरा न खेलो - होली है

"मैं बोल नहीं सकता

पर हूँ इसी पृथ्वी का।

मैं चलता चार पैरों पर हूँ,

खड़ा होने में सक्षम नहीं।

तू जब जब चाहता है,

मैं सहारा बनकर खड़ा रहूंगा।

पर मेरी भी एक गूँज स्वीकार कर,

मुझ पर रंग मत डाल,

मेरे पास तेरे जैसा आशियाना नहीं।

तेरा त्यौहार तेरा ही रहेगा,

मैं मुस्कराहट बनाये रखूँगा ।

मुझ पर पानी मत डाल

मेरे तन पर कोई कपड़ा नहीं।

मेरी आँखों में झाँक कर देख ,

तेरे त्यौहार का आगमन मुझे सताता है।

मेरी पीठ रंगीन मत कर,

मेरे हाथ समर्थ नहीं ।

मैं अनजान हूँ उन रंगों से,

चाट जाऊँ तो मेरा जीवन ख़तम है।

मैं घृणा नहीं करता तेरे से,

तुझे तेरे त्यौहार की मुबारक देता हूँ ,

बस इतना चाहता हूँ कि

बुरा न मान होली है

और

बुरा न खेल, मेरी भी होली है।"

It’s a plea to not trouble the innocent. Every year millions of stray cows, dogs and many other street animals face this torture. They are coloured in the colours that are prepared with harmful chemicals that are unfit for them. In order to remove those stains they lick them which results in their life loss. Please, instead of putting colours on them spread awareness. Make the issue transparent. Our action may not get captured but it’s wrong to trouble the innocent over our mischievous pleasures.

BE HUMAN!

No doubt dogs are more loyal than humans.
