Fire

The sky is on fire and so is my skin.

I choke when I breathe and smoke storms in;

I try to run but I know I can’t,

Soot and ashes are all this life grants.

My memories fade faster than light,

And I am left alone, a flame yet to ignite.

My tears are fire, my thoughts are ash,

It won’t stop no matter how much I thrash.

I resurrect, I heal;

Not just myself, but all those who feel.

My power is painful, regenerating every century,

Though it will die out eventually.

I shall go on as long as I can with adherence;

For that is all that is known by me, Perseverance.
