I don’t think you understand

Not enough when I say that you didn’t deserve this

I try to make you realise

That you were never meant to be his

You are everything he is not,

Charming and poised

You weren’t made for this rot

I don’t have to tell you all the ways he doesn’t suffice

And yet you do not seem to care

Whether you are happy

Or sad or in despair

It only matters to you if he is living his best life

You are strong and beautiful

Brave and kind

You are a woman of grace

Everything he could never find

What will forever remain a mystery to me

Is that if you would have been fine

Had you never married him

And if giving birth to me was the only way you got someone you could call “mine”
