Run

By Pranitha Nalmar

Oh little one, dwelling in a slum,

in a city always on the run.

Do you dream of a good life?

But define good. The good to you is fed to you.

Do you look a big cars and big egos that pass by your cratered abode

and wonder if you would ever be like them?

Do you accept the leftovers or cheap biscuits from them and feel thankful, grateful or vengeful?

Is society to you your very nosy, hardworking, drunkard uncle or the people you consider “rich”- the ones who give you cheap biscuits?

Oh little one, dwelling in a slum,

In a city always on the run.

JUST RUN!
