Her eyes were like dying embers,

They radiated warmth; we all remember

That she had so much to give,

She made us all live.

The one with eyes of gold,

Her story untold.

We still think of her as our first home,

The one who shielded us form trouble,

Our protective dome.

Though her mind was a maze of strife, doubled,

She fought through each day,

All with a smile on her face.

She helped us find our life’s way,

Never once stopping her pace.

We too all she had to offer,

Emptying out her golden coffers.

Bit by bit she lost her vigour,

As we ceaselessly pulled the trigger.

The welcoming hearts

Now ruined with gashes,

The eyes of Mother Earth,

Were now just ashes.
