GPS

By Melody McCoy-Cole

Drive

Away to go hide

Faster and faster

Zooming past by

Racing thoughts in your vision

Blurry eyes and can’t see

STOP!

Hit the brake

You almost hit a boy running free

Cry and stare at the red lights and stop signs

If only you had caution with your heart then it wouldn’t beat so fast

And things wouldn’t be so broken. Things would last.

Drive

Go slow it’s starting to rain

Window wipers up

Wipe your tears to hide the shame

The vile touch he made

Despite screaming stop

Your heart drops and the guilt comes to a halt

Place yourself in park before you decide to move on

Is this what you want?

Is this what you want?

Open your eyes inside of you see how you feel

The burning pain below is all too real

Keep it hidden or expose your vulnerability

Drive forward

Follow the road

Look and see

Be honest and raw about everything within

Crossing signs when things get complicated

You have not sinned

Forgive and forget

Move on to the next

Drive.

Drive.

Vacation and rest

Past is the past

Karma can kill it

Hold the feeling between your thighs

Never forget

It will be ok

Just drive and let justice take place

Wash away the marks that have been made

Turn left

Recalculating

Dead end in one mile

Arrive at your destination

Now finally you are allowed to smile.
