3-AM Thoughts

Like the waves crash on the ocean shores

Repetitive battering of past regrets

A sandcastle wiped out on the floor

The shattering of my self confidence

Like the clouds swelled with rain

Carrying the weight of my past

A lightning strike might ease the pain

Of the memories that left me aghast

Like a tornado scrambles through the prairie

Self-hating thoughts swirl in my head

Perhaps it’s time to prepare an obituary

Would there be a difference if I was dead

Reality is an endless cycle of torture

Stuck in a loop of frantic scenes

No place to run away from this horror

Except the utopia in my dreams

Like the waves crash on the ocean shore

Beaches appear like a clean slate

A scarring past has left me sore

Have I already sealed my fate?
