2020 : Rewind

Good riddance to 2020,

Whence the COVID came and spread aplenty,

Limits placed on travel and assembly,

Staying home was the modus operandi,

It will save grandma? Fine and dandy,

Keep your masks and sanitizer handy,

Stock up on toilet paper, Lysol, and brandy,

The Wuhan dragon is hidden, the tiger is crouchy,

Stay six feet away and not be grouchy,

Work from home and not be slouchy,

As you follow directions from Dr. Fauci,

Going to the office became too dowdy,

We Zoom’d to work, but not in an Audi,

Meetings in our pajamas, we said howdy,

Pressed the mute button, if we got rowdy,

Tensions rose between Emirs, Qatar and Saudi,

Royalty truly had doth lost its sparkle,

Cue the Brexit for Harry and Markle,

The world did burn and we did perspire,

It’s not Iraq, but there was Bush-fire,

Both Down-Under and in Cali’s pyre,

Music festivals cancelled like they were called Fyre,

Lockdown recessions caused economic damage,

Governments scrambled for a stimulus package,

Don’t be a miser, give us that direct cash money,

Don’t leave us for dead, like Qassem Soleimani,

G. Floyd’s death looked super unfair,

BLM’s Energ-E = MCs on Town Square,

The protests were no joke, no laugh, Riot,

Karen’s took notice and didn’t stay quiet,

India and China’s PUBG played out live on the border,

Azerbaijan-Armenia, hot Turkey, conflict got broader,

Cruise liners stuck at sea, aid delivery cometh piece-meal,

Trump oversees Israeli-Middle East peace-deal,

The US reaches an agreement with the Taliban,

The troops can finally come home from Afghanistan,

No one could escape Corona’s sway,

Took all of our breath away,

We lost so many that it’s hard to pander,

From the Black Mamba to the Black Panther,

Losing Bond Connery, had us stirred and shaken,

Jump’d by Van Halen, plenty of legends forsaken,

RBG, Sushant Singh, and Maradona, Hand of God quaken,

Losing family members, like Liam Neeson in Taken,

Even the Undertaker’s career was Overtaken,

Democrats tried to turn Trump, orange to im-peachy,

Divisions grew over corona, but don’t drink the bleach-y,

Kamala, Bloomberg, and Bernie weren’t hesitant,

Everyone and their brother ran for President,

Running a campaign wasn’t so easy,

Whether you’re a billionaire or wearing Yeezy,

China cracked down, Hong Kong protests went into slow-mo,

New York became an epicenter, decreed Gov. Cuomo,

We opened up Incognito Tabs on Google Chrome-oh,

Unable to travel or meet, we all got the FOMO,

Trump rallied for a second term, years - four more,

Biden countered in a debate, “Shut up man, No more!”

The vote counting took forever, Biden mailed it past,

Yet, the country still recovers, like Beirut, after the blast,

We lost our money but billionaires did pocket,

Bitcoin and Tesla shares went up like Elon’s rocket,

Forbes’ Richest List got more Musk-y,

Bezos’ marriage got more dusky,

Maskless coughing in public, made you look hella sus,

Finish the house tasks or get ejected Among Us,

Watched YouTube tutorials to contour, get max Swole,

Locking us in, like the Feds did Ghislaine Maxwell,

Tik-Tok got Savage Love, had Instagram Reel-ing,

Lipsyncing dances, duets, oh what a feeling,

Charli’s D’Amelios were making Da Million$,

Trump was challenging China’s Dominions,

The bois were out simping for new PS5s,

Gaming got intense, like murder hornet hives,

Quarantine and lockdown, it got real lonely,

Deleting vids on the Hub, we went Fans-Only,

Glued to our Twitch streams, oh what a flex,

Getting eaten up by the Tiger King on Netlflix,

Spotify had us Wrapped up like a crime,

Like Wonder Woman, we were in our Amazon Prime,

What day of the week is it? We lost track of time,

The Year is finally ending, Tis’ the end of the pain,

What’s this in the UK? A second strain,

Fret not, the vaccines are coming in at Warp Speed,

Moderna, Pfizer, Covaxin, and more to proceed,

Our spirits are strong, this fight will be won,

Cheers to a new start in 2021!
