शीशे पे धूल हो गई थी ,

मैंने साफ़ करने को सोचा ;

किया था , और कोई धूल भी

नहीं था बचा।

लेकिन उसके बाद में लोगों की सुनने लगी ;

फिर एकदिन हो गया शीशा गंदा

पर लोगों की बातों ने मुझे कर दिया था अंधा।

उन्होंने कहा मेरा चेहरा गंदा है ;

विश्वास कर लिया ;

मैं तो साफ थी असल में , लोग ही बुरे थे।

हाँ और बुद्धू मैंने चेहरे को गंदा समझ लिया,

मगर गंदा तो शीशा था, और मैं चेहरा साफ करते रह गया।
