“लाश”

मैंने उसे गला दबाकर मार दिया!

मैं डरा, शायद इसलिए क्योंकि चिड़िया ने सब देख लिया!

मैंने पिया पानी, उसे दिया निवाला

वो करने लगी शोर, मैंने किया नाटक

उसने कहा खून, मैंने कहा झूठ

सबकी आँखें ऊँची, मेरी आँखें ऊँची

सबकी आँखें नीली, मेरी आँखें नीली

जुड़कर हमने दिया चिड़िया को एक पेड़

सब शांत, कहने लगे चिड़िया को ही बेईमान!

मैंने छोड़ी बस्ती, सबने छोड़ी बस्ती

पूर्ण हुआ चिड़िया का मकसद

छोड़ा नहीं पेड़ वो उसने

खेलती रही वहीं, जीती रही वहीं

बनाया एक घर सुंदर

कल्पना के अनुकूल!

एक दिन आया, कहने लगी फुसफुसाकर

कि चाहती नहीं वो मरना इस पेड़ के भीतर!

कहीं और, मगर कहाँ?

शायद खिड़की पर मेरी

वहीं उसी जगह, जहाँ बरसों पहले

उसने देखी लाश,

और देखा मुझे!!
