प्यास भर

मैं कौन थी, और क्या बन गई…

दुनिया को समझती रही

अपनी अच्छाई का आईना,

दिल था निर्मल

पहाड़ों से उतरती किसी नदी सा।

मगर कमबख़्त ज़माने को

उस नदी का रास्ता मिल गया।

नदी को भ्रम था

कि लोग उससे मोहब्बत करते हैं,

तपती गर्मियों में

उसकी शीतलता को,

और अपने दुखों में

उसके सुकून को चाहा करते हैं।

धीरे-धीरे

पानी का रंग गहराने लगा,

और खुलने लगे परत-दर-परत

लोगों की फ़ितरत के राज़।

लोग मुड़ते रहे उसकी ओर

अपनी मंज़िलों,

अपनी राहतों,

अपनी प्यास के लिए।

और नदी…

जिसे इश्क़ समझती रही,

वो दरअसल

लोगों की प्यास भर थी।

अब नदी ने अकेले बहना सीख लिया,

लोगों के प्यार में ज़रूरत देख लिया।

दुनिया चाहे जितने क़िस्से बुनती रहे,

नदी ने दिल का रास्ता बताना छोड़ दिया।
