एक पत्र विद्यार्थियों के नाम

मैं चाहती हूँ तुमसे, कि जब तुम बड़े हो जाओ,

तो मेरे नाम की माला मत जपना।

कॉपी में खींची लाल लकीरों को,

मेरे डाँटने के अंदाज को याद मत करना।

तुम भी किसी को उसी धैर्य् से पढ़ाना,

जैसे कभी मैंने तुम्हे पढ़ाया था।

जब कोई बच्चा बार-बार गलती दोहराए,

तो उसे मेरी तरह ही समझाना।

उसकी छोटी-छोटी सफलता पर भी,

खुलकर मुस्कराना।

उसकी गलतियों में उसका भविष्य मत तलाशना,

बल्कि उसकी खूबियों को पहचानना।

जो बच्चा आज चुप है,

शायद कल सबसे गहरी बात कह जाए,

जो आज पीछे है,

शायद कल सबसे आगे बढ़ जाए।

और जब कभी तुम्हारा कोई विद्यार्थी

तुमसे आगे निकल जाए,

तो उसे रोकना मत-

अपनी बाहें फैलाकर

उसे आशीष दे देना,

गर्व से उसकी राह रोशन कर देना।

बस इतना उपकार मुझ पर कर देना,

मेरे नाम का दीप मत जलाना,

मेरी तस्वीर पर फूल मत चढ़ाना।

यदि सच-मुच मुझे याद करना,

तो किसी डरे बच्चे का हाथ पकड़ लेना,

किसी टूटे मन में विश्वास जगा देना।

किसी अनजान जीवन में ज्ञान का दीप जला देना।

मेरे शिक्षक होने का ये सफर पूरा कर देना,

मैं रहूँ न रहूँ, मेरा ये काम कर देना,

मेरा ये काम कर देना।
