लघु कथा - उबर ड्राइवर

आज फिर मुझे आपने हाथ की फिजियोथेरेपी के लिए हॉस्पीटल जाना था। हर हफ्ते एक बार जाना पड़ रहा है।

लगभग तीन महीने पहले एक हादसे में मेरे हाथ की उंगली की हड्डी टूट गई थी। तार डालने पड़े थे। अब हाथ काफी बेहतर है।

पर लगता एक्सरसाइज के लिये अस्पताल जाना पड़ता है। आज सुबह 11 बजे का अपॉइंटमेंट था। हसबैंड ऑफिस गए हुए थे इसलिए मुझे अकेले ही जाना था।

मैं तैयार हुई और उबर बुक कर दी, पांच मिनट बाद उबर आयी। मैंने गाड़ी का नंबर कन्फर्म किया और बैठ गयी । ड्राइवर ने मेरा नाम पूछा मुस्कुराया व कार स्टार्ट कर दी। गाड़ी गंतव्य की तरफ चल बढ़ा दी। लगभग 25 मिनट का सफ़र था अस्पताल तक का।

मैंने अपनी बोतल से पानी पिया और पर्स से मोबाइल निकाल कर वाॅट्स्ऐप देखने लगी। इतने में उबर ड्राइवर मुझ से बोला कि मैडम अपना वाॅट्स्ऐप चेक करिए, और हल्का मुस्करा दिया। मुझे थोड़ा गुस्सा आया। क्योंकि उबर ऐप पर मोबाइल नंबर दिखता है। इसलिए मुझे लगा कि वह ज्यादा बात चीत करने के लिए वाॅट्स्ऐप पर मैसेज भेज रहा होगा। मैंने चुप रहना

ही सही समझा।

चुप चाप बैठी रही। मुझे थोड़ा संशय होने लगा कि पता नहीं ड्राइवर के विचार किस प्रकार के हैँ। मैं सतर्कता के साथ मोबाइल पर उबर का मैप लगातार देखती रही। ताकि यदि वह गलत दिशा में जाने लगे तो मैं अपनी रक्षा के लिए प्रयत्न कर सकूँ। पर ड्राइवर ने आगे कुछ भी नहीं कहा, शायद मेरे हाव भाव से वह भी सचेत हो गया था। खैर लगभग 25 मिनट बड़ी ही असमंजस की स्थिति में गुजरे। अस्पताल पहुँच कर मैंने उबर ड्राइवर को पैसे दिए और बाकी के बचे पैसे उसने मुझे वापस दिएऔर पुनः बोला, मैडम वाॅट्स्ऐप चैक करिए। मैंने बाकी बचे पैसे लिए और गुस्से वाला मुँह बनाते हुए चल दी अस्पताल की तरफ। लगभग 45 मिनट में हाथ की फिजियोथेरेपी पूरी हुई। रास्ते की बात याद कर मेरे अंदर एक घृणा का भाव उत्पन्न हो गया। मैंने वाॅट्स्ऐप देखा ही नहीं।

फिर से उबर बुक की और घर की तरफ चल पडी। 2 बजे बेटी स्कूल से वापस आयी और हमने खाना खाया। धूप से मुझे थोड़ा चक्कर इत्यादि की समस्या हो जाती है। इसलिए आराम करने चले गए। दोपहर के आराम के बाद संध्या को पति के साथ चाय पीते समय मैंने अपना मोबाइल देखा। बड़े ही अनमने मन से वाॅट्स्ऐप पर ड्राइवर का मैसेज खोला। पढ़ते ही मुझे खुद पर

गुस्सा आया कि कैसे मैंने बिना जाने ड्राइवर ले चरित्र पर शंका की। असल में मैसेज में लिखा था,

हैलो मैडम,

लगभग 6 महीने पहले आप मेरी ही उबर से कहीँ गई थी। तब मेरे पास खुल्ले पैसे नहीं थे। इसलिए आप ने 5 रियाल वापस नहीं लिए थे। थैंक यू बोल कर गई थी ।

आज जब फिर से आप को देखा तो याद आ गया। इसलिए वो 5 रियाल भी वापस कर रहा हूँ।

थैंक यू।

मेरे चेहरे पर एक मुस्कान आ गई। मैंने अपनी छोटी सोच को धिक्कारा। उबर ड्राइवर को मन ही मन सॉरी और थैंक यू बोला।

जब भी यह घटना याद करती हूँ,चेहरे पर मुस्कराहट आ जाती है।

इस घटना में मेरे विचारों और सोचने समझने की शक्ति को और अधिक परिपक्व किया है। थैंक्स टू उबर ड्राइव।

जहाँ भी खुश रहो, खूब तरक्की करो।
