Your Happiness Is Your Own

Owning your happiness is a task almost,

You define it as you choose,

Live through it when you please.

Your happiness is your own,

Don’t ever forget that,

For if it was not so,

You would never be happy,

People like seeing others unhappy.

Owning it is not easy,

Now you have to think when to be happy,

And when not to be,

Sometimes it should be for no reason,

Sometimes the reasons make it not worth the treason.

The privilege of choosing when to be happy,

It comes at a cost,

You can’t be disheartened when someone is happy,

And you are sad,

For if you were to switch places you would not be glad.

Happiness when in abundance,

Makes everything seem right,

And when it is scarce all seems dull and irritating,

But what’s stopping you from just smiling,

But be wary of doing something too riling.
