Your Absence

In the distance

The fading hues

Flutter with cascading leaves

Golden orange wet kissed with moist grayness

I walk over the grass

Touched by your feet

As they shift and return to their

Prior position, trampled by your traversal

To be crumpled by my steps again

Each green hollow

Makes my skin converse with your absence

Like the rain that falls slanting

I slant towards you

For the wind to whisk you away

A shadow slipping through my fingers

An echo from every direction

But no direction in particular

A yearning. A memory. A dream.

A ghost.
