Young Money
By Juspreet Kaur
Hiding her pain behind a broken smile, what would her heart take to be fixed?
It only took a while for me to know the lady loves her Glock 26.
Concealing her scars with costly cosmetics, a professional at fighting some punches and kicks
I can’t stare at her without my glasses on- she’s a solar eclipse.
Playing Batman and Joker as life and death mattered no more
Numb veins succumbed to the pain now I wash the bloodstains off the floor.
Another Bonnie and Clyde or can we straighten our ways?
What are we supposed to do at the end of the day?
Notorious outlaws pulling no punches, she doesn’t want me to stay
Are we stranded? Or is she proud of me at the end of the day?
Nothing to fear, we stayed up playing sweet symphonies
Escaping hell hounds of hate, we finally got some young money.
Lightning piercing the dark clouds, the light has blinded us forever
Have we been cursed? No one likes to see us together. She snapped,
“I’m not myself when I’m with you, I’m suffocated but it’s whatever”
Pushed me out of the car, she drove off the cliff and into the river.
She hid her agony, ran out cold just like I did
Never came home empty-handed, she once promised we would be legit.
I hear the screams in my head, soon I know I’ll be gone
I’m on a medication to manage my anger as everything’s wrong
She believed we’ll be immortal but I know we never belonged
All I have is myself but I’m still not here at all.
Nothing to fear, we stayed up playing sweet symphonies
Escaping hell hounds of hate, we had finally gotten some young money.
