You Were Mine
By Rebecca Dominique Hawkes
You've kissed the tears off my face,
Wrapped your arms around me,
And hid my fatally attractive wounds,
Embedding me in your ensnaring clothes.
Yet, you no longer want me,
And I am devastated...
You did love me passionately
Are you no longer attracted?
I've shunned you rather too many a time,
Although you were my perfect paradigm.
And you, so perfectly, tied me up to you,
Until I decided to cut through.
But now you're gone,
And you're not a person,
Yet I feel so alone,
On this futile expedition.
You've loved me since I was born,
I was your living pawn,
I despised your shadow,
You beautiful curse!- you've now left me hollow.
Now you've tossed me onto the waves,
Left me stranded with a sea of people,
With my distorted mind, nobody else craves,
Undignified and helpless, I stumble.
Loneliness, I'd be married to you,
If only you hadn't abandoned me too.
Held me tight, now you've left no trace,
And here I continue my empty race.
Loneliness, you forsaker,
You were my last thread of gossamer,
How dare you falter!
I think it rather improper.
Loneliness you were my man,
Now you've left me behind,
In this ugly fire pan,
With me being left at the mercy of mankind.
