You Were

Original Submission by Haseena Seedat

Selling my first motorbike to move abroad hit me harder than my first heartbreak and came close to the pain of losing my father so I had to write a poem about it.

..you were..

You were my..

Socks 🧦to my shoe👟,

The pavement to my feet,

My Burqah to my musAllah,

My Tasbeeh to my teeth,

Your revs to my beat,

My heart to your soul,

Your body to my mind,

Without you I’ve gone blind,

Shuga 2 my sweet,

Vroom vroom was my heartbeat,

Now 3v3rything’s gone C🥶OL',

Tim3’s gone still, but

Life will will,

Ashes 2 ashes dust to dust,

Heart’s full of rust,

الله

s’ALL i.v.3‘left to trust ..

•• .. ..••🥺🥺🥺o0ooحس (hasu)

You were..

You were my crutch on the winding roads,

I your burden, with heavy loads.

You still in my company,

Even with no money,

With me on 3very d8,

N3ver rushed, n3ver shushed!,

‘3nough! Let’s go! It’s getting l8 ! ‘

Watched 3very sunset with 3very dawn,

Over n over, repetitive mourn..

My speed my wind my 3very breathe,

Without your ‘purr’ i can no longer speak.

Morse code is how we would commune,

Swing n sing to your every tune..

My heart my eyes my soul it weeps,

Sadness slowly in it it creeps.

But ‘it does not do to dwell on dreams’,

And ‘use it well’, was all Dumbledore would tell,

When he gifted Harry in his journey through hell.

So to you, my friend, my only hope,

My ‘cloak of invisibility’ in this ‘Hurry Potter‘s’ reality,

I bid adieu, in lieu of new,

But I promise you this,

٤va YOU i‘ll miss,

‘Careless Whispers’ of your kiss,

i’ll remember never to ٤get you..

Vrrrrooooom vrom (the extension of your handle-bars my arms)
