You are my mother

Every reflection shows you. Every piece of my flesh is a reminder of how I'm yours before I would belong to anyone else. I am tied to the monster I fear most. I would dance in a lion's den before I sought you for comfort. I could not resent this devil dressed far more beautiful than the night sky. I am meant to be yours to protect, yet I drown in your words. With every touch, you dug a grave in my mind, and I scored the words on the gravestone: "You are my mother."

My small fingers and curious mind sought you to trust, and you left dust to be my comforter. There is no duel I would not have fought to earn your pride. Whatever it is a daughter needs from a mother, I am not one to know. I would not even be able to distinguish it's bitter or sweet taste if it dropped on my tongue. I do know that I need. As I need the air in my lungs, I need something. My mind craves what is not mine to ask.

I am of your flesh, yet I do not know you. What do I know of myself when I do not know what I am made from?

This reflection is as strange as your face. Its smile is cold and its eyes filled with haunting indifference.
