Yellow

A yellow leaf fell

on the concrete floor,

to add a pinch of colour

to the grey soul.

He looked at the yellow leaf

in wonder and in lust,

to be so beautiful

from dawn to dusk.

To begin so bright and see the light,

and end as the sun fades into the night.

He picked the yellow

to meet his eye,

and saw the story of a different time.

The leaf was high up in the sky,

and the days were green,

with the wings to fly.

But now, the sun peeked through the void,

left by the yellow boy.

Through the leaves that live high on the trees,

the wind sighs at the boy,

who sees the yellow leaf.
