World
By Anisha
They say there is this world,
this world with people in it,
people of all kinds and types–
beautiful, ugly, cruel, kind.
They say there are people
of varied tints and shades.
I agree with them that
you find people in this world,
but there also comes a time when
you find your world in people,
or should I say, in a single person.
This person who is your world
may not have the loveliest eyes,
but you see galaxies in them.
The mysteries of the universe,
the secrets of the cosmic lives,
lie unfolded in that pair of eyes.
Oh! How deep they are! As if
they're the source of all the
deep, dark, blue, sparkling oceans.
This person who is your world
may not have the sweetest voice,
but you hear cosmic melodies
echoing in that honey-smooth voice.
Every word they utter is
a sea of peace and bliss
and you find yourself flowing
with every word they speak.
This person who is your world
may just have an ordinary presence,
but you see God when you see them.
You see God walking gracefully
in a crowd of graceless humans.
You see God sitting beside you
and you suddenly turn into a devotee.
And then you realise, again,
that this person, truly,
is your world and you
don't need anyone else.
