Women

Feminism. A word, an act, a feeling, a proposal, all of which has been took into different paths,
We as a society have ripped apart the true meaning of feminism,
Of being a women, of suffering, of abuse, of mental health,
The list goes on but remains unsolved.
A voice afar calls out “when will things change?” “when will they learn?”,
A Hundred years have passed since the day women got rights,
A hundred years have passed and yet there has been no redemption,
No redemption, no satisfaction, no indulgence,
We as a society still have an eternity of principles to learn,
I wish I could say, my body does not hurt,
Or bleed from wounds of insecurities and spiteful words,
I wish I could say, I am safe in this daunting world,
Two thousand years of mankind and the sensation of safety has still not been attained,
How much longer should we have to wait?
To feel safe to let your children out past midnight,
To feel safe to walk alone on the streets,
Without having to look behind you continuously,
To feel safe with the clothing you wear,
To feel safe in your own body and mind,
To be uninterrupted by thoughts of kidnap and murder,
When will things change?
Nevertheless, there are men who have made us feel safe,
Made us feel as though we’re worth every cry and every fight,
Appreciated and applauded us in times of distress,
Carried us even at our worst,
Encouraged us to achieve more and beyond,
This is a cry for help,
A stone thrown at humanities face to realise,
Realise the depths of absurdity we’re in,
It's a shout to change, to educate, to transform,
If not now then when?
