Winter Waltz
By Shreya Sharma
I stand alone in the middle,
Middle of a frozen lake.
Stranded during a blizzard.
Horrendous sleet pushed me forward.
The edges were sturdy.
Deeply frigid to hold my weight,
Deeply motivated I kept my sight.
A dubious path to nowhere, a bait.
Masquerade Waltz of obstacles and stain.
Smile, stay stiff never look drained.
Mortals alike us travel the same way
To destinations uncertain.
Allow me,
To step out the lake’s heart.
On this thin ice depends my life.
Slight slip sent me down the wormhole.
Oh! All in now gone, I’m home.
I have seen it in my dreams.
I cannot reach there now, I might.
Can somebody take me home?
I can’t stay lonely tonight.
The longer I stay, colder it gets.
Rains no longer make my eyes wet.
