Winter In My Life

I wait for winter when trees

Cast off their leaves of vibrant colours,

They stand still – alive but look lifeless.

They remind me of a love

So strong I have never felt it before,

But a love that was never meant to last.

Like the frost-laden season – short and fleeting,

What ails my heart shall also, pass

Till then, let me embrace the cold and be sad,

For when the Spring flowers begin to blossom

I’d know my heart has healed

And will find love, again.
