Windows Of The Church

By Jerusha Lindsey N

Of high raised ceilings that echo adoration and woe, Hymns drawing grace from heaven, down to the marble floor.

Of moss tugged vaults that trickle down rain, resemble blood seeping through bygone walls.

The windows of the bathed in hail and wail church, Sad prayers to a forgiving God, together with furious zeal like madmen pray.

The windows have heard every muttered prayer and every silent sob.

Those intricate chisled frames of wood, and stained glass of imbued memory, holds every name of anyone who’ve ever loved God.

For who knows, all those prayers never reached beyond those windows !
