Wind Chime at Dawn
By Adit Vyas
It is clinking again!
I know it is doing it on purpose now…
Why must it call me again?
What is it this time?
There is something about this window…
“Is the view through this window better than that of Everest?”
I sit there still, pondering.
There is a window and there is something about it.
Everything I see through here seems different,
Everything that happens through this is unreal.
Through this tiny window the world looks bigger than it is.
How can I see the entire world through this? I don't know
“Oh it’s about dawn come here.… stay”
I choose to stay, I choose to be. But then was refusing even an option?
And through I see, I experience, I feel. Through this..
I see the golden light stretch to the tips of the plants that once seemed living-dead, I see them spur back to youth.
I smell the wet mud spreading its petrichor beyond, I see the mud settle with the recently poured water.
I see fence walls exude a golden light and I see the sun reflecting it on the earth.
Suddenly, the chirping of the insects seems pleasant,
The rustling of the leaves seems soothing,
and the cold wind warms up as it brushes on the wind chime to reach my cheeks.
“Oh people
come,
see,
hear,
Stay”
Poor muggles see this magic I see, this is magic that surrounds me.
Everything through this window has something different to tell,
Everything through this window has a fable to share.
The epiphanies, the redemptions, solace and ecstasies, the entire cosmos is
here right now.
people go round the world, across deserts,
they climb mountains and dive into deeper trenches,
To search for answers,
Stay. Questions are always better.
Is the view through this window better than that off Everest?...
A sudden shock makes me ask this again!
Of course not! But then does Mt. Everest help you feel time on your skin?
