Wide-Eyed Ignorance

It’s been three years

since I predicted this present,

And I’ve never felt more younger.

An illusion of control,

Slipping and falling away,

Oh, how I long for seventeen.

An immortal vivacity,

Bubbling with fraudulent queries,

Preserved within a moment of naive untouchability.

A questioning of self,

A deceitful or misunderstood?

Oh, how I long for seventeen.

I stand as an ignorant at 24,

Staring with taxed eyes,

Preserve your youth,

Or to face your truth?
