Why Would They Do It

Updated: Sep 3

The year 2020 was not a walk in the park

A number of chapters to be added to history books,

But something that spoke out to me that year

The Black Lives Matter movement,

Started because of all those crooks.

I was an 11-year-old girl

Disgusted by these people,

Who showed discrimination just because of the color of skin

Who looked as if heartless

As if they had a fire to express cruelty within

The George Floyd Case

Was truly heart shattering,

Why is the question asked

Why indeed would a person act like so,

Why did the people who are supposed to keep us safe

Decide to put on such a show?

The 11 year old girl felt sorry

Sorry for the family and friends of this poor soul,

Who did nothing wrong but was still punished

Just to add entertainment to some cruel person’s daily stroll.

The Black Lives Matter movement unfortunately became necessary

To make sure such a horrendous history does not repeat itself,

To protect people’s lives and families

To teach the right values.

There is enough cruelty existing in this world already

And no call for more bad news.

Justice for George Floyd is still pending

And I hope we will get it,

The support needs to be shown

To end such discrimination.

To wipe it away

From each and every nation.

Again the question arises

As to why would they do it,

The 11 year old girl failed to understand the motive

The 14 year old girl continues to not understand even the tiniest bit.
