Why Don’t You Stay

Why don’t you stay?

I know you’d rather leave, but please do stay.

Think of your home,

You won’t see once you leave.

Think of that dress you never got to wear,

Your book here that will stay untouched,

Unfinished, with pages left to turn,

Think of the beach,

And how you love it so.

Think of your favorite song.

But above all, think of you,

Think of what could be,

Think of all the good yet to come,

And think of me,

who’ll miss you so.

So tell me now,

Quiet and slow,

Why won’t you stay?
