Who’s to blame?

A dull drab afternoon,

With nothing to do anytime soon,

I’d travelled to this corner of my country to capture life,

To highlight human strife,

Darn the network in this poverty-stricken area,

No point in crying out loud, no one can hear ya,

The dangling cables here are troubled and curled,

Like the destiny of this place-twisted and twirled,

I can’t help but compare it to the best I’ve seen,

Human folly I guess, it has always been,

Having travelled across international shores,

Experienced lavish life and witnessed lifestyles sans measly chores,

I often wonder, why do we, as a country, as a nation stand in despair?

With all its rich heritage, mythology, and culture, to whom do we compare?

This part of my country, unfortunate amongst the many others,

The wretched state of my people in tethers,

The divide here is ghastly,

And not untimely,

All meticulously planned, a well-executed strategy,

Burning and smoldering is the humanitarian effigy,

We the people, stand divided amongst caste, sub-castes, creed and religion,

The complexity of it all confounds the devil and his legion,

With documentation and data highlighting achievements,

I stand amongst the almost naked in body, in spirit and with multiple bereavements,

Who does one believe?

The poignant written word stark reality does deceive,

Who’s to blame?

Who will take claim?

Me, you or the system? Well, not one name.

I guess, we the people, were always meant to be game.
