Whittled Words

Updated: Feb 10, 2024

Whittled words to mend or maim

Daft meaning to never obey

Whittled stories to bend the proclaim

Everlasting truth I light today

At the precipice of the horizon

Serene greatness waved to me

Unfaltering sky surviving

Tessellation of blue waters to see

Incredulous, the grand waves watched me stare

Curtailed, the sails and ships they dared

For I knew not what was to be

To savor the soul, or to follow the sea

I bent out to the shadows instead

For it would be a travesty to just dream

Feeling curiosity drip into shatters bare

The live adventure was what darkness would beam

Whittled words to lead my footsteps astray

Follow the dwindling roads away

Whittled stories to leave the grand sea

I didn't care, for I was going home you see
