Alcohol backlash
Watching you sleep,
Feelings of insecurity seep, Pacifying my mind,
I cannot comfort find.
The drunken oblivion,
Of this familiar situation,
Imprisons me,
Ignorance is key.
I know you will soon awake, Drown me in heartache,
Once again the backlash of alcohol,
Locked into a misery crawl.
I don't know what I could do
different,
Perhaps stay compliant, Maybe keep on shutting up, Or I may the little bliss corrupt.
I am so confused,
Tattered and bruised,
Physically, emotionally and mentally.
Watching our children hope for better,
Exposed to this revolting matter, A sickness that runs so deep,
I fail to a farce up keep.
I am only able to write, For I can't ingest this sight, I may flare up and say something wrong,
This is a pathetic attempt of trying to be strong.
I aspire to be a better mother, I love you, that's why I bother,
My strength is being tested, While you lie there drunk, but rested.
The fallout will be mine alone
to bare,
Consumed by alcohols flare, You will subject me to the monotonous disaster,
I will even then hope to my depression armour.
The hurt is a pillar,
A void filler,
The silence my ammunition,
Against this raging strain of your delusion.
I can't write enough, About alcohols rough,
But what I can say,
Is that it drives homes into
dismay.
